India is facing a silent women’s health crisis—six in ten women live with anemia, seven in ten struggle with diabetes or hypertension, and nearly four in ten endure high-risk pregnancies. Millions still lack access to advanced care. Rising to this challenge, ARTIST for Her, in partnership with Jhpiego, DOTO Health, and HDR Healthcare Foundation, launched the Wheel of Wellness at Cutting Edge 2025 in Bengaluru—ushering in a nationwide movement for preventive, personalized care while ensuring patients retain complete ownership of their health data.
Dr. Shantanu Pathak, Co-founder of DOTO Health, emphasized that data from the Wheel of Wellness will remain patient-owned, anonymized, and secured under ISO 13485:2016 and India’s privacy laws. Any research use will require strict ethical approval. With AI, decision-support tools, and point-of-care devices, the initiative empowers women to take charge of their health while creating insights to shape India-specific health policies and guidelines.
The Wheel of Wellness aims to redefine women’s healthcare from adolescence through menopause, beginning with a pilot in Karnataka and expanding through thousands of protocol-driven clinics across India. Led by Dr. Hema Divakar, Division Director for Well Women Health Care at FIGO, ARTIST has been bridging gaps since 2007 through innovation, training, and capacity building. The model integrates regular screenings, teleconsultations, Femtech, and digital health records, making wellness proactive and lifelong rather than reactive.
Dr. Divakar described it as a nationwide movement, not a time-bound project, supported initially by grants and CSR, with long-term sustainability through community participation, cost-sharing, and insurance integration. With ARTIST’s network across 4,000+ hospitals in states like Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Assam, Jharkhand, and Manipur, the program will extend preventive care to underserved regions.
The initiative will also train 700 nursing colleges in Karnataka in maternal and child safety, building a cadre of frontline “Wellness Ambassadors.” Highlighting grassroots power, Dr. Divakar referenced the Kalaburagi HPV campaign, which surpassed targets fortyfold, proving that large-scale impact is possible while remaining independent.
“Every woman deserves quality healthcare, wherever she is,” said Dr. Amit Shah, Country Director at Jhpiego, stressing equity and access. Adding to this vision, Dr. G.V. Divakar, Founder of HDR Foundation, said: “With compassion, technology, and community at its core, the Wheel of Wellness is building a future where care truly changes lives.”
At Cutting Edge 2025, experts showcased how AI-driven diagnostics, teleconsultations, EHRs, and Femtech innovations can merge with compassionate, accessible care. The Wheel of Wellness promises to make healthcare not a privilege, but a fundamental right for every woman in India.
