The Mamta & Madhusudan Agrawal Foundation, led by philanthropist Shri Madhusudan Agrawal, Vice Chairman & Co-founder, Ajanta Pharma and Hon. Consul of the Republic of Uganda, has set a Guinness World Records title for conducting the highest number of knee screenings in 24 hours under its Pain‑Free Maharashtra initiative. The record was officially certified by Ms. Sonia Ushirogochi, Guinness World Records adjudicator from Japan, in Mumbai on December 5, 2025.
Medical teams worked continuously to screen 512 patients from underserved communities across Maharashtra. The event followed an intensive screening drive conducted on November 27–28, 2025, in Risod, one of the most economically challenged regions of Washim district, focusing on early identification of patients requiring knee or hip replacement.
The record-setting drive built on a week-long Free Joint Health Screening Camp held in Risod, which offered free hip and knee evaluations to patients from over ten districts, including Washim, Akola, Amravati, Buldhana, and Yavatmal. Attendees underwent mobility and gait assessments, received medical counselling, and were provided free medicines. Every patient identified as needing knee or hip replacement surgery will have the procedure fully funded by the Foundation.
The joint-health initiative has reportedly conducted over 214 free medical camps, reaching nearly 39,000 people. Services under this program include subsidized joint replacements, cataract and cancer surgeries, dialysis, artificial-limb provision, ENT procedures, and paediatric orthopaedic corrections.
The achievement underscores the Foundation’s effort to bridge access gaps in orthopaedic and general healthcare for economically vulnerable populations in rural and underserved regions of Maharashtra. The Guinness record certification reflects the scale, ambition, and effective coordination of the Pain‑Free Maharashtra campaign.
