In a major milestone for preventive healthcare in the national capital, more than 500 women were screened for cervical cancer in a one-day camp held at Budh Vihar in New Delhi, in an effort that also set a Guinness World Record for the highest number of Pap and HPV samples collected within an eight-hour period.

The camp, held between morning and evening hours on February 4, was organised on the Novaneo Hospital campus in collaboration with Delhi Cancer Hospital and allied with the community network of the All India Terapanth Mahila Mandal.

Over 30 medical professionals worked through the day to carry out cervical cancer screening, making it one of the largest single-day efforts of its kind in the region.

As part of the initiative’s broader focus on early detection, medical teams conducted physical examinations and collected Pap and HPV samples from the women who participated. Alongside screening, healthcare staff provided counselling on cancer risk factors, early warning signs, and the importance of regular testing, and they guided those needing further evaluation toward appropriate follow-up care.

The camp highlighted the role of hospital-led outreach in bridging gaps between specialised clinical services and community health needs. Leveraging the grassroots reach of the All India Terapanth Mahila Mandal, the screening drive attracted women from a wide range of age groups and backgrounds in a single day.

The participating hospitals also demonstrated their broader clinical capacities. Novaneo Hospital has developed advanced neonatal and paediatric care facilities, including a specialised 30-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit equipped with infant ventilators, inhaled nitric oxide machines, and whole-body cooling systems.

Meanwhile, Delhi Cancer Hospital continues to expand accessible oncology services, operating a 20-bed oncology daycare unit seven days a week with a rapid patient turnaround and cancer treatment offered at substantially lower costs than many corporate centres.

The record-setting event underscores the importance of community outreach in improving early cancer diagnosis, and they plan to continue similar initiatives across Delhi to widen access to preventive healthcare and quality medical care.
