To mark the 78th Army Day and in continuation of the 10th Armed Forces Veterans’ Day observances, the Spear Corps of the Indian Army organised a multi-speciality medical camp for veterans in Dimapur, Nagaland, on January 15.
The outreach initiative was aimed at strengthening access to healthcare for ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and their dependents living in Dimapur and nearby districts across the North Eastern region. The camp was designed to address long-standing challenges faced by elderly veterans in accessing specialised medical services, particularly in remote and semi-urban areas.
A dedicated team of Army medical professionals was deployed to deliver comprehensive clinical care and consultations. Services included screening and management of chronic age-related conditions such as hypertension and diabetes, along with general outpatient care and primary health assessment. Maternal and reproductive health consultations were also provided for spouses, while dental services covered oral health check-ups and basic procedures.
In addition to treatment, the camp placed a strong emphasis on preventive healthcare, with medical personnel offering counselling on lifestyle changes and disease prevention, particularly for senior citizens.
The medical camp saw strong participation, with a large number of veterans and family members availing themselves of the services. Local veterans’ organisations welcomed the initiative, noting the Indian Army’s continued commitment to the health and welfare of the veteran community in Nagaland.
