Indian Army Establishes Arunachal Pradesh’s First Intrauterine Insemination Centre

The Indian Army has set up the first dedicated intrauterine insemination (IUI) centre in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh, expanding access to advanced infertility care in a remote border region.

The facility, established at Tenga under the Kameng Healers unit of the Ball of Fire Division within the Gajraj Corps, is designed to provide specialised reproductive health services to both civilians and military personnel.

According to defence spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Mahendra Rawat, the centre incorporates modern reproductive health technology and clinical support previously unavailable in the region, marking a significant enhancement of local healthcare infrastructure.

A renovated dental section at the same hospital was also inaugurated as part of the broader effort to strengthen specialised medical services in the area.

Army officials highlighted that the initiative reflects an ongoing commitment to improving critical medical infrastructure in far-flung and challenging terrains, reinforcing the Army’s role not only in national defence but also in healthcare service delivery for communities near India’s frontiers.

The new IUI unit is expected to ease the burden of infertility treatment for families in West Kameng and neighbouring districts, where access to specialised reproductive medicine has been limited.
