India and Germany have further strengthened their cooperation in traditional and integrative medicine during the 3rd Joint Working Group Meeting held in Berlin from 18–20 November 2025.
The Indian team, led by Monalisha Dash, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, met German health officials to discuss how both countries can work together in areas like research, regulation, and improving patient access to traditional medicine. Key Indian officials from CCRAS, CCRH, and the Ministry of Ayush were part of the visit.
On the German side, senior representatives from the Ministry of Health, Charité University, BKK mkk (a major health insurance fund), and the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices took part in the discussions.
Both sides focused on three main areas:
• How to include traditional medicine in public health systems
• How patients can get reimbursement for such treatments
• How to improve regulatory approval processes
The Indian delegation also visited key institutions in Germany, including Charité University’s Traditional and Integrative Medicine Center, Community Hospital Havelhöhe, and the Federal Joint Committee to understand insurance and reimbursement processes.
The Ministry of Ayush said that this meeting is an important step in promoting Indian traditional medicine globally and strengthening partnerships that support research, safety, and better access for patients.
