Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday said the state government will soon invite tenders worth about ₹100 crore to purchase medicines.
As per the media reports, during a meeting with senior health department officials, the chief minister said medicines will be bought directly from manufacturers to ensure good-quality drugs are available at government hospitals and health centres across the state.
He said the government is committed to providing quality medicines to patients and added that changes to the Drugs Act will be made if needed to protect public interest.
Sukhu directed officials to strictly maintain quality standards for medicines supplied at government health facilities.
The chief minister said the state government is taking several steps to improve the healthcare system so that people can access good medical services within Himachal Pradesh.
He also asked Food and Civil Supplies Corporation officials to procure medicines for Jan Aushadhi and other medical outlets directly from pharmaceutical companies instead of authorised dealers.
