The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India convened a meeting in New Delhi during the Winter Session of Parliament in which J P Nadda, Union Health Minister, met MPs from Rajasthan to urge their active leadership in district-level action against tuberculosis (TB) under the nationwide TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
The meeting was part of a series of briefings with parliamentarians from different states aimed at strengthening collective leadership in India's fight against tuberculosis.
The minister urged MPs to lead from the front in strengthening district-level action, supporting Ni-kshay Mitras and mobilising communities to eliminate stigma and ensure timely diagnosis and care.
The engagement emphasised the critical role of elected representatives in accelerating India’s progress toward TB elimination, highlighting the importance of political will, community mobilisation, and district-level monitoring to achieve the national TB-free goal.
