The Indian Navy donated two ECG machines to health facilities at Agatti and Amini as it concluded a five-day Joint Services Multi-Speciality Medical Camp across the Lakshadweep Islands, reinforcing its commitment to improving healthcare access in remote island communities through coordinated tri-services efforts.

Held from January 12 to 16 at Kavaratti, Agatti, Amini, Androth, and Minicoy, the camp was organized with the support of the Union Territory administration and local health authorities. Over 4,700 patients benefited from specialist and super-specialist consultations during the programme.

For the first time in Lakshadweep, residents had access to a wide range of advanced medical services. The deployed team included experts in neurology, cardiology, nephrology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, medicine, surgery, ENT, ophthalmology, dermatology, dental surgery, radiology, and community medicine.

Rapid deployment of personnel and equipment, supported by air and sea operations, allowed fully functional medical facilities to operate on each island. During the camp, 51 general surgeries were conducted, 71 cataract procedures restored vision, over 50 endoscopic and echocardiographic tests were carried out, and multiple cardiac treadmill assessments performed. Radiology teams conducted more than 250 ultrasound examinations, alongside over 100 dental procedures and 30 minor dermatological interventions. All consultations, procedures, and medicines were provided free of cost.

In addition, the camp included educational activities focused on preventive healthcare, healthy lifestyle practices, cancer awareness, mental well-being, and Basic Life Support training. The initiative was widely appreciated by residents and the Lakshadweep administration, highlighting the scale, professionalism, and tangible impact of this tri-services collaboration.
