The Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) in New Delhi now hosts a new Medical Innovation Centre (MIC), inaugurated by Pankaj Kumar Singh, the Delhi Health Minister, in a bid to make the city’s healthcare system future-ready.
The centre is being described by the government as a landmark development for public health. It is expected to support doctors, professors, researchers and medical students at MAMC in addressing multiple healthcare challenges using modern medical technologies.
The MIC is intended to catalyze the ongoing transformation in the healthcare sector, leveraging advances such as digital health, biomedical engineering, and medical innovation. The facility aims to support efforts in developing new vaccines, diagnostics, integrated data and information systems, and in bolstering disease-control capabilities — especially for viral diseases.
Alongside the inauguration, the minister also unveiled a three-day medical conference — MedTechX — which began on the same day. The event is expected to bring together medical professionals, researchers and students to engage on innovations in medical technology, research and future-oriented healthcare solutions.
