The Odisha government has approved the addition of 73 new state-specific medical treatment packages under the ongoing ABPMJAY-GJAY welfare scheme, increasing the total number of available packages in the state to 2,163.
The newly included packages cover specialised treatments in oncology, haematology, and ophthalmology, a step intended to improve access to comprehensive, cashless medical care for beneficiaries across Odisha.
This decision was taken during a meeting of the scheme’s empowered committee, chaired by Manoj Ahuja at Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar. Senior health officials including the Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Aswathy S and the CEO of the State Health Assurance Society presented updates and proposals during the deliberations.
Alongside the expansion of treatment options, the committee approved additional reforms. These include a phased rollout of ABPMJAY-GJAY in government health facilities, redesignation of 1,009 “Swasthya Mitras” as “Pradhan Mantri Arogya Mitras”, and offline claim settlement for dependent children (aged 6–18) whose names were missing on the IT platform during the transition from earlier schemes.
To strengthen cancer care, the government also sanctioned an interest-free revolving fund of ₹10 lakh for the Tata Memorial Centre to support high-end, cashless diagnostic services.
These enhancements are expected to improve the reach, quality and reliability of universal health coverage in Odisha, while also addressing previous gaps in care delivery and claim settlements under the merged health scheme
