Healthium Medtech, a global medical technology company with a diversified portfolio spanning surgical, post-surgical, wound care, arthroscopy and infection-prevention solutions, has formalised a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB). Through this partnership, the company will establish Healthium Medtech Unit 2 on a 5-acre site within Sri City Industrial Park, backed by an investment commitment of ₹150 crore to be executed in two stages.

This new facility expands Healthium’s established presence in Sri City, where it has been operating since 2012 through its SEZ-based plant that manufactures sutures and meshes. The addition of Unit 2 strengthens both the company’s production capabilities and Sri City’s reputation as a competitive destination for advanced medtech manufacturing.

The project is expected to generate significant employment opportunities, with an estimated 300 direct jobs anticipated by 2027, covering both permanent and contractual roles. A further 100 indirect jobs are likely to emerge through supply chain networks, logistics activities, service providers and ancillary units. The expansion comes at a time when India’s medtech industry is projected to grow toward a USD 30 billion market by 2030, creating a strong requirement for increased manufacturing capacity and a skilled workforce.

The leadership team emphasised that the decision to expand in Sri City reflects Healthium’s strategy of building a robust, scalable and efficient manufacturing base in India. The region’s infrastructure readiness, availability of skilled labour and strong connectivity support future capacity growth and closer integration with suppliers and support services. The investment also aligns with Healthium’s broader vision of strengthening high-quality, India-made medical device production for domestic and global markets.

APEDB and Sri City leadership highlighted that the new unit will contribute to a deeper industrial ecosystem, encourage supporting industries and help sustain long-term competitiveness. The expansion is set to enhance Andhra Pradesh’s medical devices value chain by bringing in specialised skills, new investment and long-term economic benefit.
