Torrent Group has announced its foray into the hospital segment with plans to set up a 500-plus bed multispecialty hospital in Ahmedabad through its subsidiary, Torrent Hospitals Private Limited. The proposed facility will be located along the SP Ring Road and will entail an investment of over ₹750 crore, as per media reports.
The hospital will be developed on a 13,896 sq metre land parcel and will have a planned built-up area of 95,814 sq metres, making it one of the larger private healthcare projects in the city. Once operational, the facility is expected to create at least 2,400 jobs, as per company disclosures.
Torrent acquired the land in mid-2025 from Safal Constructions India Private Limited for ₹247 crore, underscoring its intention to establish a strong presence in tertiary healthcare. The development follows the group’s earlier healthcare expansion with the launch of Torrent Diagnostics Private Limited in 2022 and reflects a broader strategy to build integrated healthcare capabilities across pharmaceuticals, diagnostics and hospital services.
The project is currently at an advanced stage of approvals, with statutory and zoning clearances underway. Torrent’s entry into hospital services comes at a time when Ahmedabad has seen a post-pandemic expansion in hospital bed capacity, driven by corporate investments and consolidation.
