NewEra Hospital has received an official licence from the Health Department to perform transplant surgeries, enabling both living donor and deceased donor liver transplants. This approval brings timely, life-saving care closer to patients with advanced liver and kidney disease and strengthens the region’s organ transplant infrastructure.

The need for transplants far exceeds the available infrastructure, and patients usually have to wait endlessly for their turn to receive an organ. In this scenario, the authorisation of NewEra Hospital in Vashi opens up a whole new opportunity for such patients. With NewEra Hospital now authorised to perform liver transplants, patients and families can access advanced treatment closer to home, ensuring timely care and better continuity of treatment.

NewEra Hospital is equipped with advanced operating theatres, transplant ICUs, multidisciplinary medical teams, and strict safety protocols to meet national transplant standards.

“Transplantation is often the only life-saving option for patients with end-stage organ failure or certain advanced conditions. Both living donor and deceased donor transplants play a vital role in saving lives. Living donor transplants allow faster access to surgery, while deceased donor programs support patients without suitable family donors. Early access to transplant services greatly improves survival, recovery, and overall quality of life. With the licence in place, NewEra Hospital can now provide comprehensive transplant care from evaluation and surgery to post-transplant recovery under one roof. We aim to ensure that patients no longer need to travel long distances for critical procedures and can access safe, ethical, and comprehensive transplant care closer to home,” said Dr Sunil Kutty, Director, NewEra Hospitals, Consultant Brain and Spine Surgeon.

It is also noteworthy that NewEra Hospital, Nagpur, is performing the highest number of liver transplants in the whole of Central India. The team now hopes to emulate and extend the same robust transplant programme at NewEra Hospital, Navi Mumbai, offering patients in the region access to equally advanced and reliable care, concluded Dr. Mataprasad B Gupta, Vice President & CEO.
