Narayana Health is preparing to expand its footprint into Western healthcare markets, with the United Kingdom set to become the anchor for its global growth strategy. The Bengaluru-based hospital chain plans to use the UK as a base to enter other developed healthcare systems, taking its low-cost, high-quality care model beyond India.

Founded in 2000 by cardiac surgeon Dr Devi Shetty, Narayana Health has built a strong reputation for affordable specialised care, particularly in cardiac services. The group is targeting countries with stable legal and regulatory frameworks where private healthcare providers can operate at scale.

The company already runs a hospital in the Cayman Islands and strengthened its international presence last year by acquiring Practice Plus Group Hospitals in the UK. Its immediate focus is to consolidate and grow its UK operations before expanding into other regions such as Europe and the Caribbean.

The overseas push is expected to support job creation, skills development, and training in advanced medical practices, while widening access to specialised healthcare services.

Alongside its international plans, Narayana Health continues to expand in India. The group currently operates over 5,900 hospital beds nationwide and plans to add 2,000 more over the next three years, with an investment of around Rs 30 billion.

The company competes with large hospital chains such as Apollo Hospitals and Manipal Health Enterprises, which are also scaling up capacity. In FY25, Narayana Health reported a 12.1 percent rise in revenue to Rs 54.83 billion and expects to maintain similar organic growth in the coming year as it balances domestic expansion with global ambitions.
