The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi inaugurated the redeveloped Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Hospital in East Delhi’s Dilshad Garden, marking the completion of a major overhaul of a facility historically intended to serve the city’s most vulnerable populations.

Originally built by the IRCS, which is headed nationally by the President of India and in Delhi by the LG, the hospital had fallen into a state of disrepair with declining patient footfall prior to the redevelopment initiative.

The revamp was carried out under the supervision of the new managing body, with committed CSR funding and executed by the Delhi Police Housing Corporation. The new facility features a modern building, spacious waiting areas, fully equipped outpatient (OPD) and inpatient (IPD) services, laboratories, physiotherapy facilities, and adequate toilets for staff, patients, and attendants.

A cafeteria and in‑patient canteen have been included, and the complex has been designed to be fully accessible to divyangjan, with ramps and elevators throughout.

The hospital is positioned to become a quality center for maternity and child care and will provide OPD services across various medical streams through visiting super‑specialty consultants.

In addition, the facility will offer AYUSH services, diagnostics, and comprehensive medical and para-medical support. The LG emphasized the importance of community participation in ensuring the success of the facility and instructed officials to maintain the hospital’s operations to high standards on a continuous basis.
