KIMS Sunshine Hospital has introduced a groundbreaking Augmented Reality (AR)-enabled Outpatient Department (OPD) service, revolutionising how doctors interact with patients and explain medical conditions. This innovative technology enables clinicians to project detailed 3D visualisations of internal organs directly onto a patient’s body, offering a live, map-like view of their health status.

Developed in collaboration with South Korea-based medical technology company SKIA, the AR platform converts CT and MRI scans into interactive 3D models without the need for physical markers. These real-time visuals allow for more accurate detection of conditions such as tumours, ulcers, cancers, and other internal disorders.

“This cutting-edge innovation significantly enhances diagnostic precision by enabling real-time visualisation of organ systems,” said Dr. A.V. Gurava Reddy, Managing Director of KIMS Sunshine Hospital. “It also helps doctors communicate complex conditions and procedures more clearly to patients, improving understanding and trust.”

The AR OPD service is initially being rolled out across departments including medical and surgical gastroenterology, urology, gynaecology, hepatology, cardiology, and neurosurgery. With this integration of augmented reality into clinical consultations, KIMS Sunshine aims to set a new benchmark in patient-centered care and technological adoption in Indian healthcare.
