BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) (NYSE: BDX) has unveiled Incada, a scalable, AI-powered, cloud-based connected care platform designed to unify data from BD’s smart medical devices into a single, intelligent ecosystem. The platform debuts alongside the company’s next-generation Pyxis Pro automated medication dispensing system, marking a significant step forward in BD’s connected care strategy.
Built on Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure, Incada leverages advanced AI capabilities — including natural language search and analytics — to transform complex device data into actionable insights. With scalability to handle data generated by nearly three million smart, connected BD devices, the platform enhances visibility, efficiency, and decision-making across healthcare enterprises.
By integrating data from multiple BD devices, Incada delivers enterprise-wide visibility into inventory, helping hospitals reduce waste, improve labor productivity, and streamline clinical workflows. Through AI-driven insights and customizable dashboards, care teams can query the platform using natural language and access real-time analytics, enabling faster and more informed clinical decisions.
The introduction of Incada coincides with the launch of BD Pyxis Pro, a next-generation automated medication dispensing solution that enhances medication management at the point of care. Pyxis Pro features expanded capacity within a compact design, enhanced security for controlled substances, and improved efficiency through tools such as RFID badge scanning, wireless barcode scanners, and illuminated bins for quick access.
Bilal Muhsin, EVP and President of BD Connected Care, said:
“Our vision for the BD Incada platform is to go beyond legacy connectivity to create meaningful connections across devices from infusion pumps to patient monitors to pharmacy robotics, and unify data from those solutions into one ecosystem, transforming data into clear, actionable insights for care teams. These launches represent key milestones in BD’s Connected Care strategy, where we are uniquely positioned with our broad portfolio from pharmacy to bedside, to leverage game-changing technology to drive meaningful benefits for our customers.”
Together, BD Incada and Pyxis Pro exemplify the company’s commitment to digital transformation in healthcare, connecting data from pharmacy to bedside to empower healthcare providers. The innovations aim to enhance medication safety, optimize operations, and deliver actionable intelligence across healthcare systems — aligning with BD’s broader mission to improve patient outcomes through smarter, more connected care solutions
