In a significant boost to diagnostic healthcare in India, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Vinai Kumar Saxena, inaugurated a new state-of-the-art facility of Mahajan Imaging & Labs in Dwarka on Sunday. Known for pioneering advanced diagnostic and imaging services, the company’s latest expansion positions Southwest Delhi as a hub for cutting-edge healthcare technology.
India's First 'Excel 3T' AI-Powered MRI Scanner Unveiled
The inauguration also marked the debut of the ‘Excel 3T’ — an ultra-fast, AI-driven MRI scanner being introduced in India for the first time. This next-generation technology offers up to 50% higher signal-to-noise ratio, enabling sharper, high-resolution images in significantly less time. For instance, cardiac MRI scan times have been slashed from over an hour to just 30–40 minutes. Equipped with real-time motion correction, contactless respiratory tracking, and AI-based image reconstruction, the system delivers greater diagnostic accuracy while enhancing patient comfort — especially for children, the elderly, and those with claustrophobia.
Technological advancements such as AI-based compressed sensing, fifth-generation acceleration, and a powerful 45/200 gradient system with 2.05 MW output enable fast, clear scans across complex anatomical regions — a major advantage in high-volume clinical settings.
A One-Stop Destination for Advanced Diagnostics
Spread across a spacious and sustainable campus, the new Dwarka centre integrates multiple branches of diagnostics — including advanced radiology, laboratory testing, and genetic diagnostics — all under one roof. The centre has been designed to serve the residents of Dwarka and nearby areas with accessible, high-quality care
It offers focused specialisation in cardiac imaging, neuroimaging, and musculoskeletal diagnostics. The facility also houses other high-end diagnostic technologies like a 128-slice cardiac CT scanner, full-field digital mammography, AI-enabled 3D/4D ultrasound, digital X-ray, DEXA BMD, echocardiography, Holter monitoring, and pulmonary function testing (PFT).
Importantly, the centre incorporates eco-friendly infrastructure with energy-efficient systems and water reuse mechanisms, reflecting Mahajan Imaging’s commitment to sustainable healthcare.
Leaders Speak: A Vision for Patient-Centric, Tech-Driven Healthcare
Speaking at the launch, LG Vinai Kumar Saxena stated:
"This centre represents the future of healthcare in India. It's heartening to see Delhi leading in such diagnostic innovation, particularly in the fight against rising non-communicable diseases like cardiac conditions. The government is committed to strengthening public healthcare infrastructure, and we welcome private players to join us in this mission to ensure affordable, quality diagnostics for all."
Dr. Harsh Mahajan, Founder & Chairman of Mahajan Imaging & Labs, added:
"With the Dwarka facility, our goal went beyond technology — we reimagined how diagnostics should feel for patients. We’ve created a space where advanced AI systems are seamlessly integrated into an environment that is comforting, intuitive, and patient-friendly. This is a model for empathetic, efficient, and precision-driven diagnostic care."
Kabir Mahajan, COO, echoed the patient-first philosophy:
"We aim to make high-quality diagnostics accessible within communities while delivering a superior patient experience. Our integrated pathology network, local clinics, and full-service radiology centres ensure fast, coordinated care. By combining AI, convenience, and compassionate design, we're building a diagnostic ecosystem that truly centres around the patient."
Setting a New Benchmark in Indian Diagnostics
With this new facility, Mahajan Imaging & Labs deepens its presence in the National Capital Region and raises the bar for what diagnostic centres can offer — combining AI-powered tools, sustainable practices, and patient-focused design. The Dwarka centre not only introduces next-gen innovations like the Excel 3T MRI to Indian soil but also strengthens local healthcare infrastructure by bringing advanced, all-in-one diagnostic services closer to home.
