The Uttar Pradesh government has approved the installation of digital X-ray machines at 64 community health centres (CHCs) across multiple districts to strengthen diagnostic services and improve patient care.
Deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak, who also holds the health portfolio, said administrative and financial clearance has been granted for procuring and installing the new machines as part of the state’s efforts to modernise public healthcare infrastructure.
According to officials, three CHCs in Aligarh, four in Azamgarh, four in Etawah, two in Kannauj, three in Kanpur Nagar, sixteen in Lucknow and four in Mau will be equipped with digital X-ray machines. Additional installations are planned at two CHCs in Moradabad, five in Rae Bareli and three in Sambhal.
Two community health centres each in Sonbhadra will also receive the facility, while four CHCs in Sultanpur have been included in the rollout. One digital X-ray machine will be installed at CHCs in Deoria, Rampur, Prayagraj, Pilibhit, Meerut, Maharajganj, Mahoba, Kaushambi, Hardoi, Basti, Bareilly and Ballia.
Health department officials highlighted that the move is aimed at improving early diagnosis and treatment, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas. Medical experts noted that digital X-ray facilities are essential for diagnosing a wide range of conditions, including chest infections such as tuberculosis and pneumonia, bone fractures, foreign body ingestion, gunshot injuries, kidney stones and abdominal or intestinal perforations.
The state government has reiterated that strengthening healthcare services remains a priority, with a focus on expanding access to modern diagnostic tools at the grassroots level.
