The Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) and the International Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR)‑Delhi have signed a strategic partnership to strengthen healthcare education, skill development and applied research in India’s growing medical devices and medtech sector.

The collaboration was formalised with a memorandum of understanding and aims to bridge the gap between academic training and industry requirements by combining management education, policy expertise and practical exposure in medical device manufacturing.

Under the agreement, IIHMR Delhi will establish a satellite centre on the AMTZ campus in Visakhapatnam to deliver executive education programmes, industry‑aligned skill courses and joint academic–industry initiatives. Key areas of collaboration include co‑created curriculum and skilling programmes covering supply chain management of medical devices, regulatory affairs, quality systems and technology commercialisation.

Applied research led by faculty will focus on the adoption of medical devices, procurement frameworks, quality assurance and regulatory impact, generating evidence to support scaling up domestic manufacturing and informed policy decisions. The partnership also enables structured internship, mentorship and placement pathways for students and professionals with AMTZ‑affiliated manufacturing units, startups and service providers.

AMTZ, India’s first dedicated medical device manufacturing and innovation park, combines facilities for manufacturing, testing, certification, incubation and skilling in one location. The IIHMR Delhi, an academic institution focused on building managerial and leadership capacity in health systems, public health and allied sectors, will bring expertise in health systems management, public health policy and health economics to the collaboration.

The partnership aligns with national priorities such as ‘Make in India’ and self‑reliance in MedTech by enhancing workforce capabilities, generating policy‑relevant evidence and accelerating responsible growth in the medical devices sector, with the aim of improving access to affordable and high‑quality healthcare technologies.
