Zynova Shalby Multi-Specialty Hospital has launched a dedicated Oncology Department aimed at delivering structured and comprehensive cancer care, strengthening its specialty services amid a rising cancer burden in India. The initiative is designed to improve patient outcomes and enhance quality of life through coordinated, evidence-based treatment delivered under one roof.

According to the hospital, the newly established department provides end-to-end oncology services, including cancer screening, advanced imaging, biopsy procedures, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapy. By integrating diagnostics and treatment pathways within a single facility, the hospital seeks to ensure timely evaluation, accurate staging and streamlined therapy planning without unnecessary delays.

The Oncology Department brings together a multidisciplinary team of specialists to enable coordinated and personalised treatment. The team includes Dr. Deepak Khanna, Senior Consultant – Head and Neck Onco-Surgery; Dr. Jerusha Fernandes, Junior Consultant – Head and Neck Surgery; Dr. Prashant Nyati, Senior Consultant – Gynaec Onco-Surgeon and Robotic Surgeon; Dr. Prriya Eshpuniyani, Senior Consultant – Thoracic Surgeon and Surgical Oncologist; Dr. Sandeep Bipte, Consultant – Breast Cancer and Reconstruction Surgery; Dr. Prasad Pande, Gastrointestinal Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgeon; and Dr. Deep Vora, Medical Oncologist. The combined expertise spans key oncological disciplines, enabling comprehensive care across tumour types.

The hospital noted that cancer continues to be one of India’s leading health concerns, driven by changing lifestyles, tobacco consumption, unhealthy dietary patterns, stress, environmental exposure and low screening rates. As a result, common cancers such as breast, lung, gastrointestinal, head and neck and prostate cancers are being diagnosed with increasing frequency. Delayed diagnosis often contributes to severe complications, including organ damage, metastasis and reduced survival rates, underscoring the need for early detection and coordinated intervention.

The new department places emphasis on prompt initiation of evidence-based treatment following diagnosis, with a focus on improving survival outcomes and preventing disease progression. Access to advanced technology and a coordinated team approach is intended to support personalised treatment strategies tailored to each patient’s clinical condition and overall well-being.

Beyond clinical management, the Oncology Department incorporates holistic support services, including nutritional counselling and emotional support, to help patients regain strength and cope with the psychological impact of cancer. The hospital also highlighted its commitment to maintaining close communication with families throughout the treatment journey to ensure clarity and reassurance at every stage.

The launch forms part of Zynova Shalby Hospitals Mumbai’s broader strategy to strengthen specialised healthcare services through advanced infrastructure and experienced specialists. The hospital stated that the initiative reinforces its commitment to quality, accessibility and patient-centred care while addressing the growing demand for comprehensive oncology services.
