The 1,000-bed Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) Hospital at Sanathnagar is nearing completion and is scheduled to be inaugurated on Ugadi, the Telugu New Year on March 19, after civil works and medical equipment installations reach final stages.

Built on a multi-acre campus, the Sanathnagar TIMS facility has advanced infrastructure approaching readiness, with major diagnostic systems including CT scan, MRI and digital X-ray machines installed, and most civil works concluded. The hospital will feature 300 intensive care unit beds within its 1,000-bed capacity and is being developed as a super-specialty medical hub.

In addition to comprehensive inpatient and surgical wards, the hospital will house a state-of-the-art organ transplantation centre, with modern operation theatres capable of supporting a full range of transplant procedures, expanding access to tertiary care in Hyderabad’s public health infrastructure.

Officials overseeing construction have been pushing to complete all remaining installations, including advanced diagnostic units and critical care facilities, ahead of the Ugadi deadline.

The facility’s development is intended to offer high-level medical services, including cardiac care, advanced diagnostics, emergency care, and surgical specialties, under one roof.

The Sanathnagar TIMS project is part of a broader expansion of super-specialty healthcare infrastructure in Telangana, designed to relieve pressure on existing medical institutions and improve access to sophisticated treatments for a wider patient population.

The inauguration on Ugadi will mark the hospital’s operational launch, with full medical services planned to start immediately after completion of final infrastructure work and equipment alignment.
