Medanta – The Medicity has launched a dedicated Structural Heart Interventional Cardiology Programme at its Noida hospital, marking the beginning of advanced catheter-based valve therapies at the facility.
The centre has successfully completed its first three Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) procedures, expanding minimally invasive cardiac care access in the National Capital Region.
The initial patients were men in their early sixties diagnosed with severe symptomatic aortic stenosis, a progressive narrowing of the aortic valve that restricts blood flow from the heart and can lead to breathlessness, chest pain and heart failure if untreated. After multidisciplinary evaluation, they were selected for TAVI — a catheter-based valve replacement procedure performed without open-heart surgery.
TAVI, also known globally as TAVR, involves delivering a replacement valve through a catheter, typically via the femoral artery. The approach avoids sternotomy and is associated with shorter hospital stays and faster recovery, particularly benefiting elderly patients or those at elevated surgical risk. The programme at Medanta Noida is designed to integrate advanced cardiac imaging, interventional cardiology expertise and structured post-procedure care pathways.
The procedures were carried out by a specialised structural heart team comprising interventional cardiologists, cardiac imaging experts, anaesthetists and trained nursing staff. The launch reflects Medanta’s broader expansion of high-end cardiovascular services in the NCR region.
The Noida facility forms part of Medanta’s larger regional growth strategy, which includes a 550-bed super speciality hospital aimed at strengthening tertiary and quaternary care delivery across western Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas.
Structural heart disease — particularly degenerative aortic stenosis — is becoming more prevalent in India as the population ages. Minimally invasive interventions such as TAVI are increasingly being adopted across major cardiac centres nationwide, offering patients an alternative to conventional surgical valve replacement.
With the successful completion of its first three TAVI cases, Medanta Noida has positioned itself to scale advanced structural heart interventions in the region, aligning with the broader shift toward catheter-based therapies in cardiovascular care.
