Cipla Limited has announced the launch of its Breathefree Lung Wellness Center (BLWC) in Mumbai, positioning it as India’s most advanced integrated lung diagnostics and wellness facility.
This marks Cipla’s second BLWC, following the New Delhi centre, and reflects the company’s continued efforts to expand access to comprehensive respiratory diagnostics and care across the country.
Located in Prabhadevi, Mumbai, the new BLWC is equipped with advanced technology, globally benchmarked diagnostic protocols, and a robust lung health testing infrastructure. The centre aims to provide accurate, standardised, and accessible lung health assessments for clinicians and patients in Mumbai and beyond.
The facility is designed to support diagnosis across a wide range of respiratory conditions, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), interstitial lung diseases (ILDs), and other complex pulmonary disorders. It offers over 60 specialised lung health assessments spanning pulmonary physiology, microbiology, immunology, blood chemistry, radiology, and advanced inflammation phenotyping.
Key diagnostic services include spirometry, oscillometry, FeNO and FnNO testing, DLCO, body plethysmography, cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET), X-ray and CT imaging, sleep studies, and extensive microbiology and immunology panels. All tests are delivered by highly trained technicians in alignment with global quality standards.
In addition to diagnostics, the Mumbai BLWC provides access to specialised services such as pulmonary rehabilitation, science-backed pulmonary nutrition, and comprehensive smoking cessation programmes, aimed at improving recovery, long-term lung health, and overall quality of life.
The centre also introduces India’s first Sputum Inflammometry Lab. Integrated within the broader diagnostics framework, the lab enables detailed characterisation of airway inflammation in asthma, COPD, and other chronic respiratory conditions, supporting more precise diagnosis, improved disease monitoring, and personalised treatment strategies.
Commenting on the launch, Achin Gupta, Managing Director and Global CEO Designate, Cipla Limited said, “Respiratory care has been a cornerstone of Cipla’s healthcare journey for decades. With the launch of our second Breathefree Lung Wellness Center, we are scaling an integrated model of respiratory diagnostics designed to serve patients in Mumbai and across the country. At a time when respiratory health is a growing concern, this Centre brings advanced and standardised diagnostics closer to clinicians and patients, enabling earlier detection, more precise care, and better long - term outcomes.”
Dr. Jaideep Gogtay, Global Chief Medical Officer, Cipla Limited, added, “The Breathefree Lung Wellness Centers represent a significant step forward in advancing how respiratory diseases are diagnosed and managed. By integrating comprehensive diagnostics with advanced capabilities such as Sputum Inflammometry, this Center enables a deeper understanding of airway inflammation and supports more precise and personalised therapy. The goal is to significantly strengthen long‐term disease monitoring, reduce the likelihood of exacerbations, and meaningfully improve the quality of life for patients.”
Beyond patient care, the Breathefree Lung Wellness Center in Mumbai is envisioned as a hub for training and research. The centre will support clinician and technician training in advanced diagnostic methodologies, facilitate scientific collaboration among pulmonologists and respiratory researchers, and contribute to strengthening India’s respiratory science ecosystem.
