The Vice-President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, participated in the World Meditation Day celebrations at Kanha Shanti Vanam in Telangana, emphasizing the significance of meditation in fostering inner peace, emotional well-being, and social harmony.
He highlighted meditation as a universal practice that transcends cultural, geographical, and religious boundaries and noted its growing importance in modern life.
Shri Radhakrishnan recalled India’s role in co-sponsoring the United Nations resolution that designated 21 December as World Meditation Day, recognizing meditation’s contribution to mental well-being and spiritual growth. He acknowledged the global efforts of Daaji Kamlesh D. Patel in spreading the practice of meditation.
Drawing on India’s spiritual traditions, including teachings from the Bhagavad Gita and the Tamil classic Thirumantiram, he described meditation as an ancient science of the mind and spirit that leads to self-realization, ethical living, and inner harmony.
He underlined meditation’s role in India’s vision for Viksit Bharat@2047, stating that national development must include economic, emotional, and spiritual progress. Referencing Mission LiFE, he noted that meditation cultivates mindfulness, responsibility, and harmony with nature, essential for sustainable living, and appreciated Kanha Shanti Vanam’s environmentally responsible practices.
The Vice-President called on citizens, families, and communities to integrate meditation into daily life and encourage future generations to adopt practices that promote mental peace, balance, and harmony.
The event was attended by Telangana Governor Shri Jishnu Dev Varma, Minister Shri D. Sridhar Babu, Daaji Kamlesh D. Patel, and thousands of participants.
