Maharashtra’s MedTech Push At Davos: CM Fadnavis Lays Out Plan To Harness Technology For Affordable Care

By Team VOH

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis unveiled a new medical technology roadmap at the World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos, aiming to make healthcare more accessible and affordable across the state.

The initiative was presented during a dedicated medtech session in Switzerland, where the state delegation engaged with global medical technology firms to explore how advanced equipment and digital health tools can reduce treatment costs for patients.

The plan outlines how Maharashtra intends to harness innovations in medical devices, diagnostics and digital health solutions to strengthen healthcare delivery systems. Officials and industry representatives at the forum discussed collaboration opportunities that could lower the cost of care through improved technology adoption and workforce training in medtech applications.

Alongside the healthcare roadmap, the state announced progress on broader development initiatives, including the launch of the Raigad‑Pen Growth Centre near the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport. This centre is being developed as a smart business district in partnership with the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority and private sector partners, with commitments from foreign investors to establish global capability centres and fintech hubs in the area.

The medtech strategy and related engagements form part of Maharashtra’s participation in the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum, which runs from January 19 to 23, 2026, and brings together nearly 3,000 leaders from over 130 countries, including policymakers, CEOs and innovators.

The state’s delegation also secured multiple strategic memorandums of understanding with international academic and research institutions to facilitate technology and knowledge exchange, with the aim of driving innovation across sectors including healthcare.

Maharashtra’s focus at Davos reflects a push to attract foreign direct investment and global partnerships that support the integration of cutting‑edge technologies into public services.

The medtech roadmap is positioned as a key component in efforts to expand healthcare access, reduce cost barriers and build a more resilient system that can leverage technology for improved clinical outcomes.
