Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated a Rs 100 crore maternal and child healthcare centre at the Government General Hospital in Guntur, marking a significant expansion of public health infrastructure in the region.
The Dr Kanuri – Gymkhana Mother and Child Hospital spans five storeys, covers approximately 2.7 lakh square feet, and is equipped with 600 beds, including facilities for obstetrics, paediatrics and specialised neonatal services.
The centre was built with funding from former students of Guntur Medical College, supported by an additional Rs 27 crore sanctioned by the state government for medical equipment, furniture and other essential facilities. The foundation stone for the project was laid in 2018.
The facility reflects growing investment in maternal and child health services in Andhra Pradesh, with the state government and community stakeholders collaborating to enhance access to quality care for women and children.
