Bengaluru Welcomes Harvard’s Healthcare Simulation Programme, Inspiring Young Learners

By Team VOH

Bengaluru hosted Harvard Medical School’s HMS MEDscience programme through the Anandi Moonshot Programme at Anandi School in Gatthalli, marking the first time the initiative has taken place in India. The six‑day immersive education experience was designed to spark scientific curiosity among young learners, with 20 students from grades 6 to 10 selected from more than a thousand applicants nationwide to participate.

Anna Yost, programme director at HMS MEDscience, guided the sessions alongside mentors from Anandi School, bringing international expertise and educational insights to the students.

During the programme, students worked on real‑life medical scenarios that included patient case studies, cancer diagnostics and clinical simulations, giving them an early understanding of how healthcare professionals analyse, diagnose and handle complex medical challenges. The curriculum emphasised hands‑on learning, teamwork and problem‑solving, and participants presented innovative healthcare projects at the end of the session.

The initiative aims to inspire interest in science, medicine and innovation among school students and to provide exposure to medical thinking and clinical reasoning at an early stage in their education. The collaboration between Harvard Medical School’s HMS MEDscience team and mentors at Anandi School brought an international educational experience to the city, offering young learners practical insights into healthcare careers and biomedical thinking.
