The Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences (UPUMS), Saifai, is set to establish a 250-bed level-1 trauma centre near the Agra-Lucknow Expressway to provide rapid treatment for accident victims.
The facility will be located approximately 10 kilometres from the university campus, reducing the time needed to transfer emergency patients for critical care.
The trauma centre will be operated by UPUMS under a hub-and-spoke model aimed at expanding the reach and improving the quality of healthcare services. Alongside this, the university plans to set up a Centre for Rural Health, which will include tele-OPD, virtual OPD, digital data integration, and mobile outreach services to address the healthcare needs of rural populations.
The university is also moving forward with several initiatives to strengthen super-specialty services and advance medical education and research. An Integrative Medicine Unit will be introduced, combining allopathic and AYUSH systems to offer patient-centric care through specialty clinics, integrative OPDs, and yoga and wellness units.
To enhance health awareness and community engagement, UPUMS will launch a broadcast service aimed at disseminating information on disease prevention, government health schemes, and educational content.
These developments are part of the university’s broader strategy to establish itself as a leading centre for healthcare, education, and research in western and central Uttar Pradesh.
