Aster DM Healthcare has announced a AED 1 billion project pipeline in the UAE to expand local healthcare capacity and enhance access to advanced treatments, in line with the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33).
The group, one of the largest integrated healthcare providers in the GCC, currently operates 15 hospitals, 126 clinics, and 338 pharmacies across the Middle East. Supported by its omnichannel platform, myAster, the group aims to increase its annual patient reach from 17.6 million to 75 million over the next five years. In parallel, Aster is investing $250 million to expand its operations in Saudi Arabia.
As part of its UAE expansion, Aster plans to open two new multi-specialty hospitals in Dubai’s Studio City and Discovery Gardens, adding over 250 beds to its current capacity of approximately 920 beds. These facilities are expected to serve more than 560,000 patients annually and create over 675 healthcare jobs.
The Aster Hospital in Al Qusais will also be expanded with a new annex building adding 122 beds, bolstering the hospital’s Centre of Excellence for Oncology and other high-demand specialties. The project, with an investment of AED 300 million, is expected to be completed by the end of 2028.
The group has also received approval to establish the UAE’s first private multi-organ transplant centre in Sharjah, operated by Medcare Hospital. The centre will bring together international experts and multidisciplinary teams to provide advanced organ transplant care, enhancing the country’s ability to deliver complex tertiary and quaternary treatments locally.
Aster is set to launch an Advanced Robotic Rehabilitation Centre in Dubai, following the success of its Al Raffah Walk Again facility in Muscat. The centre will feature 18 state-of-the-art robotic devices, including robotic exoskeletons, brain–computer interface systems, neuromodulation therapies, and advanced gait and upper-limb rehabilitation solutions.
It will also include a paediatric neurorehabilitation unit for children with neurodevelopmental conditions such as ASD, ADHD, and cerebral palsy, integrating AI-enabled cognitive mapping, immersive VR learning, and neuromodulation-supported therapies.
Robotic surgery capabilities across the network are also being expanded, with new Da Vinci platform models supporting precision-led, minimally invasive procedures. Medcare recently became the first hospital globally to treat an international patient with Itvisma, a gene therapy for spinal muscular atrophy.
On the preventive healthcare front, Aster is introducing Thrive, a 100-biomarker-based health assessment via myAster. The system evaluates cardiac, metabolic, hormonal, inflammatory, and nutritional markers, providing digital insights reviewed by doctors. AI-enabled diagnostics and plans for a unified hospital information system across UAE, Oman, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia are also underway to enhance patient experience.
Aster Pharmacy recently launched seven new brands in the UAE, including NDL, a sports nutrition line endorsed by Rafael Nadal, further expanding the group’s retail footprint.
Through these initiatives in infrastructure, digital integration, robotic care, and preventive health, Aster DM Healthcare is building a future-ready healthcare ecosystem across the GCC, reinforcing its position as a leading healthcare provider in the UAE.
