Torrent Group has formally entered the diagnostics segment with the launch of Torrent Diagnostics and the commissioning of a large national reference laboratory in Navi Mumbai.
Spread across nearly 100,000 square feet, the facility is positioned as one of the country’s largest reference labs and is equipped to conduct over 3,500 diagnostic tests across multiple disciplines. The lab will cater to hospitals, clinicians and smaller laboratories that outsource complex and specialised testing.
The centre houses advanced technologies including next-generation sequencing platforms, high-end microbiology systems, molecular diagnostics infrastructure and biosafety level-3 laboratories. The company said the facility has been designed to handle high-complexity testing while maintaining stringent quality and governance standards.
With this move, Torrent Group expands its presence in healthcare beyond pharmaceuticals, signalling a strategic push into the fast-growing diagnostics market. Rising demand for preventive screening, specialised testing and outsourced laboratory services has driven increased investment in large reference laboratories across the country.
The diagnostics venture will operate on a reference-led model, focusing on specialised and high-end testing services rather than routine pathology alone.
