Zydus Lifesciences has partnered with SIG to launch single-serve “siplet” pouches for its cough medicine, Deriphyllin CoughGo. The ready-to-drink sachets will be available in 5 ml and 10 ml doses.

The new format uses SIG’s tethered spout system, StrawCap 30 Linked, along with the company’s Motion Servo 3.2 filling technology. Traditionally sold in multi-dose bottles, liquid cough and cold medicines often pose challenges such as inaccurate dosing and leftover product that expires unused.

By switching to fixed-dose, single-use pouches, Zydus aims to improve dosing accuracy, reduce waste, and offer a more convenient, break-resistant option for consumers. The design also minimises contamination risk and eliminates the need for spoons or syringes, making the medicine easier to consume on the go.

The StrawCap 30 Linked closure includes an integrated straw, allowing patients to drink directly from the pouch while using significantly less plastic—about three times less than a conventional pouch cap. The tethered cap also stays attached to the pack to prevent littering.

In the future, the solution will be combined with SIG Terra RecShield film, which is fully designed for recycling.
