CSIR–National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML), Jamshedpur, has launched Phase II of the Phenome India–CSIR Health Cohort Knowledgebase (PI-CHeCK), a flagship initiative aimed at advancing precision medicine and personalized healthcare for India.
The program began with a multi-day health camp from August 23–28, involving more than 250 participants, including CSIR-NML employees, pensioners, and their spouses.
The inauguration, held at the CSIR-NML Agrico residential campus, was led by Dr. Sandip Ghosh Chowdhury, Director of CSIR-NML. He emphasized that PI-CHeCK holds significant promise in addressing lifestyle-related and cardio-metabolic disorders such as diabetes, obesity, and fatty liver disease. “This initiative is a vital step in developing India-specific risk prediction models and enabling tailored healthcare interventions,” he said.
Project Co-coordinator Dr. Ansu J. Kailath, Senior Principal Scientist, outlined the programme’s roadmap. The dedicated team—comprising Dr. Prinka Singh, Dr. Navneet Singh Randhawa, Mr. Sudhakara Rao K., Mr. Roshan Kumar, Dr. Kuldeep Singh Gour, Dr. Nikhil Kumar, and Dr. Krishna Kumar—is driving this initiative of national importance.
Phase II of PI-CHeCK reflects CSIR-NML’s commitment to bridging scientific innovation with community healthcare needs.
