Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, virtually addressed the inaugural edition of the Conclave on “Best Practices,” organized by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare at AIIMS Nagpur. The two-day event brought together various All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) from across the country to share exemplary practices focused on patient-centric care, operational efficiency, digital innovation, and academic excellence.

AIIMS institutions participating in the conclave included AIIMS Bhopal, Jammu, Bilaspur, Jodhpur, Nagpur, Deoghar, Patna, Gorakhpur, Guwahati, and Raipur. The Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) division and the Ministry of Defence also collaborated in the event. The conclave began with an opening address by Union Health Secretary, Ms. Punya Salila Srivastava, who emphasized the collective responsibility of all stakeholders to advance the government’s vision of excellence in medical education and universal healthcare.

In his address, Shri Nadda highlighted the critical role of AIIMS as Institutes of National Importance. “Each AIIMS integrates advanced clinical care, high-quality education, and research excellence,” he said. “Strategically located to reduce regional healthcare disparities, these institutions are centers of innovation, delivering equitable, affordable, and evidence-based services.” He lauded AIIMS Nagpur for taking the lead in organizing the first conclave focused on best practices.

The Health Minister stressed the value of sharing innovations and experiences among AIIMS institutions for collective growth. He described the conclave as a pioneering effort to consolidate best practices in three key domains: teaching and research, hospital services, and governance with a focus on patient convenience.

Shri Nadda praised the adoption of Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME), digital learning platforms, modern simulation labs, and structured mentorship programs as vital steps toward educational excellence. He also recognized the growing contribution of new AIIMS in scientific research, particularly region-specific studies, ethical clinical trials, and interdisciplinary collaborations to address complex public health challenges.

Highlighting advancements in patient care, Shri Nadda noted the integration of e-governance tools, transparent administration, and innovations such as Jan Aushadhi Kendras, digital registration, and patient helpdesks as examples of combining efficiency with compassion in public healthcare.

Also present were Smt. Ankita Mishra Bundela, Joint Secretary (PMSSY), Dr. Prashant P. Joshi, Executive Director of AIIMS Nagpur, senior ministry officials, Defence Medical Services representatives, and executive directors from AIIMS institutes nationwide.
