Thermo Fisher Scientific Expands Bengaluru R&D Centre of Excellence with ₹160 Crore Investment

American life sciences and research leader Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced the expansion of its R&D Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, marking a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to advancing scientific innovation in India. The newly inaugurated facility adds 37,000 sq. ft. of research and development space, supported by an investment of over ₹160 crore.

The Bengaluru centre has played a pivotal role in driving global research progress — having developed over 2,000 high-quality recombinant antibodies that have supported breakthroughs in infectious disease research, antiviral development, and cancer biology. Its robust antibody validation program has tested more than 25,000 antibodies, while the centre’s manufacturing capabilities have produced over 2,000 primary and secondary antibodies, ensuring consistent quality and reproducibility for researchers worldwide.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by key dignitaries from the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission, KEONICS, and the Karnataka Innovation & Technology Society (KITS), reflecting the state’s strong support for R&D-driven industrial growth.

Among those present were Gianluca Pettiti, Executive Vice President and Sector President, Life Sciences, Diagnostics and Applied Sector, Thermo Fisher Scientific; Srinath Venkatesh, Managing Director, India & South Asia; Manoj Prasad, Vice President, IT & Digital Solutions, APAC & MEA; along with other senior company leaders.

The expanded facility further strengthens Thermo Fisher’s role as a catalyst for cutting-edge scientific discovery, reinforcing its mission to enable researchers in India and worldwide to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer.
