The Telangana Director of Public Health has issued an advisory urging citizens to take precautions against seasonal illnesses following a forecast by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad predicting light to moderate rainfall across the state, with heavy showers in isolated areas over the next week.
According to the advisory, the current weather conditions could lead to lower temperatures, increased humidity, and a rise in vector-, water-, and air-borne diseases such as malaria, dengue, chikungunya, jaundice, typhoid, and viral fevers. Residents have been advised to eliminate mosquito breeding sources and adopt preventive measures against mosquito-borne diseases.
Director of Public Health, Dr. B. Ravindra Nayak, stated that the government has made necessary arrangements, including adequate availability of hospital beds, IV fluids, essential medicines, and ORS sachets at all public health facilities. Additionally, ANMs, ASHA, and Anganwadi workers have been directed to keep emergency medical supplies ready.
