The Rajasthan health department has issued a directive mandating all government and private hospitals across the state to provide free and immediate medical treatment to acid attack victims, ensuring that no patient is denied care due to the absence of specialised facilities.
Dated December 29, 2025, the order requires healthcare facilities to administer prompt first aid and emergency care, stabilise victims, and, where necessary, refer them without delay to higher or specialised medical centres.
The directive applies to government hospitals, private hospitals, nursing homes and all registered medical facilities. Free treatment under the order includes medical care, medicines, hospital beds and food during hospitalisation. Hospitals have also been instructed to issue certificates identifying patients as acid attack victims, enabling survivors to access reconstructive surgeries, additional treatment and benefits under existing government welfare and compensation schemes.
The health department has warned that any refusal to provide treatment or failure to comply with the guidelines will attract action under relevant legal provisions. District health authorities have been assigned responsibility for monitoring implementation to ensure acid attack victims receive timely, comprehensive and cost-free care throughout Rajasthan.
