The Gujarat Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) has provided crucial support to 2,106 cancer patients across the state, disbursing over ₹31.55 crore for treatment between 2021 and 2025.
Under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel’s leadership, the fund has emerged as a vital safety net, offering timely financial assistance for life-saving medical care, including cancer treatment, heart disease, kidney and liver failure, and complex procedures such as organ transplants.
Eligible patients—those with an annual income below ₹4 lakh, or ₹6 lakh for senior citizens—can apply with medical reports, treatment estimates, and residence certificates. Cases are verified by the Revenue Department and approved by the CMRF Committee, ensuring sanctioned assistance is directly transferred to hospitals or patients’ bank accounts to avoid treatment delays.
CMRF support has benefitted 450 blood cancer patients, including those needing bone marrow transplants, and 1,656 patients with other cancers. In addition to cancer care, the fund aids patients undergoing high-cost procedures like liver, kidney, heart, and lung transplants.
Major medical institutions, including Gujarat Cancer and Research Institute (Ahmedabad), Nathalal Parekh Cancer Institute and B.T. Savani Hospital (Rajkot), Bharat Cancer Hospital, Kiran Multi Super Specialty Hospital, and AAIHMS (Surat), have partnered to deliver advanced treatment to financially vulnerable patients.
