More than 15,733 private hospitals have been empanelled under the Ayushman Bharat–Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) as on December 31, 2025, with 1,259 of these located in aspirational districts, the government informed Parliament on Tuesday.
Sharing the update in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav said the growing participation of private healthcare providers under AB-PMJAY reflects the scheme’s expanding reach and its role in improving access to quality healthcare services across the country. The complete list of empanelled private hospitals is available on the National Health Authority portal.
The minister also provided details on the progress of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), highlighting the steady increase in the creation of Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHA). During the current financial year 2025–26, a total of 8.79 crore ABHA cards have been generated as on January 28, 2026.
According to the data shared, ABHA creation has seen consistent momentum over the years. In 2020–21, 0.97 crore ABHA cards were created, followed by a sharp rise to 20.12 crore in 2021–22. This was followed by 15.44 crore in 2022–23, 22.28 crore in 2023–24, and 17.69 crore in 2024–25.
The government has positioned ABHA as a key building block of India’s digital health ecosystem, enabling individuals to securely access and share their health records across healthcare providers. Together, the expansion of hospital empanelment under AB-PMJAY and the growth of ABHA accounts are aimed at strengthening universal health coverage and advancing digital health integration nationwide.
