
The National Health Authority (NHA) convened a two-day national review meeting on October 15–16, 2025, in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, bringing together key stakeholders to evaluate progress and chart the future course for India’s flagship health initiatives—Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) and the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
The event was led by Dr. Sunil Kumar Barnwal, CEO of NHA, and attended by Shri Anurag Jain, Chief Secretary, Government of Madhya Pradesh; Shri Kiran Gopal Vaska, JS and Mission Director, ABDM; Smt. Jyoti Yadav, JS (PM-JAY); Shri J. Satyanarayana, Chairperson, National Digital Health Blueprint; and senior officials, dignitaries, and experts from across India.
NHA released the Annual Report 2024–25 and a Compendium of Best Practices from States and Union Territories, showcasing innovations and outcomes under PM-JAY and ABDM. The review focused on strengthening digital public infrastructure, enhancing service delivery, and ensuring equitable healthcare access while shaping the PM-JAY 2.0 and ABDM 2.0 roadmaps.
Dr. Barnwal, in his address, outlined a vision for deeper digital integration and scalability. He remarked, “This review marks a pivotal moment in our journey to deepen digital health integration and ensure equitable access to quality healthcare for all. Ayushman Bharat, with its four strong pillars, has benefited over 45 crore people. To accelerate progress, leadership of State & UT Health Authorities in digital integration & innovation will be key to making it the world’s largest transformative health scheme.”
States and UTs were felicitated for their performance in claims management under the Zero Pendency Month initiative, with Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, and Ladakh recognized for exemplary execution.
“We are committed to crafting the ABDM 2.0 report to take us to the top of the world. We need the best, actionable ideas from the States and UTs to achieve that ambition,” stated Shri J. Satyanarayana.
Highlighting the strategic importance of ABDM, Shri Kiran Gopal Vaska announced the upcoming ABDM Index, noting, “The ABDM Index will be a key enabler of accountability and innovation. Care coordination is the bridge between data and dignity; ABDM’s integration with PM-JAY is a game-changer.”
During thematic sessions, participants discussed performance under PM-JAY, digital health infrastructure, change management, and the role of the National Anti-Fraud Unit (NAFU).
As part of the review, officials visited AIIMS Bhopal to experience a fully digital patient journey and the Sehat Setu Call Centre to observe integrated care coordination.
In his closing remarks, Shri Anurag Jain emphasized the need for behavioral change and institutionalization to ensure effective implementation. The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of national commitment to accelerate the rollout of PM-JAY 2.0 and ABDM 2.0, fostering collaboration and innovation across States and Union Territories to transform India’s healthcare delivery landscape.
