The Madras Diabetes Research Foundation (MDRF), Chennai, the Centre for Brain Research (CBR) at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, and the UK Dementia Research Institute (UK DRI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly explore the connection between diabetes and brain health.
The collaboration, formalised on Saturday, unites leading experts in diabetes, neuroscience, and dementia research to investigate how metabolic disorders such as diabetes contribute to cognitive decline and neurological diseases like dementia and Alzheimer’s.
The partnership will focus on large-scale studies, data sharing, and translational research to enhance early detection, prevention, and management strategies for related brain disorders.
