Maharashtra’s Palghar district administration has announced the near completion of major healthcare infrastructure projects aimed at transforming medical services in one of the state’s predominantly tribal regions. The initiatives include a multi-speciality civil hospital and a trauma care centre designed to address longstanding gaps in emergency and specialist care.

The district civil hospital, a project that has been underway since Palghar’s formation as a separate district, is expected to be fully operational within the next year. Once completed, it will provide a wide range of multi-speciality medical services to local patients, reducing the need for residents to travel to distant cities for advanced care.

Alongside the hospital, the Manor Trauma Care Centre is in the final stages of construction and is anticipated to open in the coming months. Strategically located near the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Highway, this trauma centre is being positioned as a frontline emergency response facility to provide life-saving care for accident victims and other critical cases. Its location on a major transportation corridor is expected to drastically cut response and referral times for serious injuries.

The Palghar district administration, working under the broader authority of the Maharashtra government, has actively pursued funding from both state and central sources to support these developments. Member of Parliament Dr. Hemant Savara has been a key advocate for securing timely financial support to keep the projects on schedule.

Implementation and oversight of healthcare initiatives in the district fall within the remit of the District Health Officer, Dr. Santosh Subhashrao Chaudhary, who leads the local health department under the Zilla Parishad Palghar’s Health Department administrative structure.

The department’s broader mission includes supervising rural health infrastructure and ensuring delivery of government health schemes across the district.
