Haryana celebrated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on Wednesday with a series of healthcare and wellness-focused initiatives aimed at improving women’s health, nutrition, and preventive care, alongside a strong push for environmental conservation.

The state-level celebrations in Rohtak were jointly led by Union Health Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president J P Nadda and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.

Saini, who arrived in Rohtak on Tuesday night, flagged off a marathon against drug abuse that drew participation from thousands of youth and local residents. On Wednesday, Nadda joined him at the Maharshi Dayanand University campus to launch the Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar campaign and inaugurate the 8th Poshan Maah, as part of a nationwide drive to advance women’s health and nutrition.

Focus on Women’s Health, Nutrition and Maternal Care

The health-focused events featured women’s health check-up camps, the fourth phase of the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan, and a special immunisation drive to enhance access to essential maternal and child healthcare services.

Union Health Minister Nadda symbolically launched Poshan Maah by feeding a child a nutritious meal, highlighting the government’s emphasis on early-life nutrition.

Celebrating Gender Balance and Cancer Survivors

In recognition of efforts to improve gender balance, village sarpanches Renu (Samchana), Saroj (Kharawar) and Kajal (Bhaini Surjan) were honoured for leading villages where the birth rate of girls has surpassed that of boys.

Senior citizens above 70 years were issued Vay Vandana cards under the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, while beneficiaries received Ayushman cards during the event.

Cancer survivors were felicitated as ‘Cancer Champions’ for overcoming the disease, in a bid to spread awareness and hope among other patients.

Environmental Push Through Namo Van

The leaders also inaugurated the Namo Van, a green zone being developed using the Miyawaki method in Rohtak’s Sector 2, by planting saplings. They pledged to plant 10,000 trees with active community participation.

Women, youth, children, and senior citizens joined the drive in large numbers. Cooperation Minister Arvind Sharma, Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao, and BJP state president Mohan Lal Badauli were also present.

Saini urged women to lead environmental protection efforts, saying they should contribute to “guarding the environment just as diligently as they manage their households.”

Thousands of women pledged support to the Prime Minister’s campaign for a Clean and Healthy India, while both leaders noted that “creating a balanced environment is essential to realising the vision of a healthy life.”

The gathering also extended warm birthday wishes to Prime Minister Modi.
