Gujarat has strengthened its public healthcare infrastructure with the introduction of 14 new MRI machines at government hospitals across the state.
The 1.5-Tesla MRI units have been procured at a cost of ₹178.54 crore and will be installed at select GMERS and civil hospitals to improve access to advanced diagnostic imaging and reduce patient travel time.
The new MRI machines will be deployed across multiple districts, including Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Jamnagar, Valsad, Junagadh, Navsari and Morbi, enhancing diagnostic capacity at key public healthcare facilities. The initiative is aimed at reducing dependence on private diagnostic centres and improving timely diagnosis for patients relying on government hospitals.
Alongside the healthcare upgrade, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 31 development projects in Kheda district with a total investment of ₹348 crore. The projects span sectors such as water supply, irrigation, road infrastructure, public buildings, health services and animal husbandry.
The combined initiatives form part of the state government’s broader efforts to improve healthcare delivery and accelerate infrastructure development, with a focus on expanding access to essential public services across Gujarat.
