Gujarat has brought more than 5.14 lakh new beneficiaries under various Anganwadi schemes as part of a focused drive to strengthen access to nutrition and health services for mothers and young children.

The campaign, conducted between November 2025 and January 2026, targeted pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children up to six years of age, with the largest share of enrolments in tribal and rural areas. Over 2.55 lakh beneficiaries from tribal regions, more than 2.07 lakh from rural areas, and around 51,000 from urban areas were newly linked to Anganwadi services.

Led by Women and Child Development Minister Manisha Vakil, the coverage drive aimed to identify eligible families previously outside the Anganwadi network, ensuring access to supplementary nutrition, growth monitoring, and basic health support.

District administrations undertook detailed micro-planning to reach remote and interior areas, prioritizing outreach where gaps in coverage were most pronounced. The drive also leveraged the TECHO digital platform for maternal and child health tracking, alongside field verification, to ensure data accuracy and prevent duplication.

Anganwadi workers and helpers, supported by district officials, carried out door-to-door verification and registration, enabling services to reach previously unregistered beneficiaries and improving overall program data reliability.
