Delhi has not reported any new cases of leprosy in the past two years, prompting officials to withhold additional funding for leprosy-affected individuals in the current financial year. The rehabilitation centre in Tahirpur, which previously accommodated persons affected by leprosy, has remained unused for several years.

Currently, beneficiaries under the "Welfare of Leprosy Affected Persons" scheme receive Rs 3,000 per month. The Department of Social Welfare has declared the scheme “closed,” meaning no new beneficiaries will be added.
