In a bold move to widen digital healthcare access in Bihar, authorities have begun registering pharmacies in Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) in the town of Marhaura . After already linking private hospitals under the scheme, the registration of certified medicine shops has now kicked off.
On Tuesday, under the leadership of the district’s Assistant Drug Controller, dozens of local chemists were brought into the digital fold. The event at the local sugar-mill premises was attended by officials from the ABDM team, including the district project coordinator and representatives from a private healthcare partner.
The initiative aims to connect both pharmacies and other healthcare centers to the ABDM’s digital infrastructure. Once registered, all information about these vendors will become part of a centralized database — accessible to patients and regulators alike. Officials say the move will boost transparency, ensure easier medicine access, and help government oversight.
Registration is not a one-time event; it will continue daily at the sub-division hospital from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Prominent local pharmacists, including leaders of the district drug association and several individual shop-owners, have already signed up.
By broadening the scope of ABDM beyond hospitals to include pharmacies, the state aims to build a robust digital health network — where treatment, prescriptions, and medicine access are tracked and transparent.
