Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Vidhu Shekhar, presided over a District Task Force meeting to review Jammu district’s preparedness for the Pulse Polio Immunisation (IPPI) 2025 campaign, scheduled from December 21 to 23, 2025.

The campaign will administer oral polio vaccine to children below five years of age as part of the national effort to sustain India’s polio-free status and maintain high immunity levels among young children.

During the meeting, officials presented a detailed operational plan for the district, covering arrangements for static immunisation booths, house-to-house vaccination teams, and transit site activities, with a particular focus on high-risk and hard-to-reach areas. It was reported that Jammu district has identified a total of 2,22,389 children aged 0–5 years for vaccination, including 1,41,256 children in rural areas and 81,133 in urban areas.

The plan includes 1,258 static booths, 38 transit points, and 2,516 house-to-house teams supported by 5,032 team members and 257 supervisors to ensure full coverage of all children. Specific strategies were outlined to reach children at transit points, major transport hubs, crowded public places, migrant populations, urban slums, nomadic settlements, industrial clusters, and brick kiln sites.

The ADC instructed all departments involved to enhance monitoring and supervision, ensure close inter-departmental coordination, and establish robust contingency plans to guarantee smooth implementation of the campaign across the entire district. The meeting was attended by the District Immunisation Officer, Project Officer ICDS, Chief Planning Officer, District Health Officer, Health Officer of Jammu Municipal Corporation, and other senior officials.
