India’s oral healthcare landscape stands at a decisive turning point — marked by rising disease prevalence, growing public health costs, and rapid advances in digital and preventive dentistry. Against this backdrop, the 2nd Edition of the International Conference on Dentistry & Awards 2025, organized by Voice of Healthcare (VOH), convened leading dental professionals, policymakers, researchers, academicians and innovators on October 31, 2025, at Hotel Ambassador, New Delhi (IHCL SeleQtions), for a day of dialogue, collaboration and recognition in oral health. 

The event was graced by Maj Gen (Prof) Atul Kotwal, Former Executive Director, NHSRC, Government of India, as the Chief Guest, who emphasized that oral health is integral to overall health and underlined the need for stronger preventive systems, equitable access and the integration of technology into primary and specialist dental care. 

The conference opened with a Welcome & Inaugural Session featuring distinguished leaders: Dr. Naveen Nishchal, Founder – Voice of Healthcare and Co-Founder (Cygnus Hospitals and Meddo-Doxper); Mr. Robert Hsieh Bor-Huei, Deputy Representative, Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India; Mr. Vincent Lin, Director, Taipei World Trade Center Liaison Office in New Delhi (TAITRA); (Hony.) Brig. Dr. Anil Kohli, Padma Bhushan | Padma Shri | Dr. B.C. In his inaugural remarks, Dr. Naveen Nishchal highlighted the conference as a marker of deeper India–Taiwan collaboration in healthcare innovation and education. He noted, 

“Oral health mirrors overall health — to tackle access, affordability and quality we must democratize technology such as AI and 3D imaging, and build cross-border partnerships that accelerate clinical innovation and workforce development.” 

Mr. Robert Hsieh Bor-Huei observed, 

“Beyond numbers and trade, today is about quality of life. A smile reflects health, confidence and happiness. Dentistry is now at the forefront of medical innovation. India and Taiwan share deep ties in education, science and healthcare — combining Taiwan’s advanced technology with India’s scale and expertise to co-create global solutions.” 

Mr. Vincent Lin added, 

“It is an honour to join the 2nd International Conference on Dentistry and Awards. Taiwan’s precision, innovation and growing dental industry, matched with India’s scale and expertise, create vast opportunities for meaningful collaboration and global impact.” 
 
(Hony.) Brig. Dr. Anil Kohli reflected on the evolution of Indian dentistry, stating, 

“India has achieved remarkable milestones in oral healthcare, but our future lies in education reform, ethical leadership, and fostering innovation that is both patient-focused and globally competitive.” 

Lt Gen (Dr.) Vimal Arora shared his perspective on leadership and clinical excellence, noting, 

“The true strength of dentistry lies in disciplined practice, empathy, and lifelong learning. We must continue to inspire young professionals to see dentistry not just as a career, but as a commitment to national health and service.” 

 Maj Gen (Retd.) Dr. P. N. Awasthi added, 

“As the profession grows, our collective responsibility is to maintain clinical integrity, strengthen dental education, and promote preventive care as a national priority.” 

One of the day’s most anticipated segments was the fireside chat hosted by Ms. Khushbu Sharma, Joint Director, Voice of Healthcare. The conversation featured two stalwarts of Indian dentistry — (Hony.) Brig. Dr. Anil Kohli and Lt Gen (Dr.) Vimal Arora. The session explored leadership in dental education and services, the role of ethics and mentorship, and the future direction of clinical practice in an era of digital, preventive and patient-centric care. Both leaders emphasized reimagining dental education, scaling quality practice models, and strengthening governance to ensure patient trust and equitable access. 

The conference showcased a robust agenda of plenaries and panels that examined global trends, clinical priorities and technology-led transformation across oral healthcare. Moderated by Prof. Monika Arora (VP, Research & Health Promotion Division, PHFI), the panel featured Dr. Yung-Chung Chen (Chief, Division of Prosthodontics, National Cheng Kung University Hospital, Taiwan), Dr. Nitin Bhagat (Professor, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Manav Rachna Dental College), Dr. (Major) Chander Prakash (Maxillofacial Surgeon & Oral Implantologist), and Dr. Omkar Shetty (Dean & Professor, Faculty of Dental Science, SGT University). The discussion explored oral cancer prevention, systemic links with NCDs, and the urgency of early screening and awareness. 

Panel Changing Dynamics of Customer Expectations & Evolution of DSOs in the Indian Scenario Chaired by Dr. (Prof.) Anmol S. Kalha (Director & Advisor, Dentistry, Max Healthcare), this session included Maj Gen (Dr.) Subrata Roy, Dr. Chandan Jain (Founder & CEO, iCube Dental), Dr. Amrit Singh Ahluwalia (Deputy Director, Dental, HCL Healthcare), and Mr. Shammi Gumbhir (MD, Unicorn Denmart). The panel discussed the rapid rise of Dental Service Organizations (DSOs), shifting patient expectations, and the balance between ethical integrity and operational scalability. 

Panel Educating for Tomorrow — Building the Future Dental Workforce Moderated by Dr. Reena Kumar, this academic forum brought together Dr. Shalini Kapoor, Dr. Amrita Chawla, Dr. P. Narayana Prasad, Dr. Rekha Gupta, and Prof. Keya Sircar to address the future of dental education through competency-based learning, interdisciplinary exposure, and research integration to build globally competitive dental professionals. 

Panel The Intelligent Smile — Reimagining Oral Care through Digital, Cosmetic & AI Innovation Moderated by Dr. Amit Sachdeva, the innovation panel featured Dr. Aneesh Katyal, Dr. Sanjit Singh, Anurag Gupta (Co-founder & CEO, KrinosAI) and Dr. Deepak Rai, focusing on the convergence of AI, cosmetic dentistry, and digital design to redefine patient experiences and treatment precision. 

The event culminated with the Dental Excellence Awards 2025, presented by Maj Gen (Prof) Atul Kotwal, who also served as the Chief Guest for the Award Ceremony. He congratulated all winners and applauded their outstanding contributions to advancing oral healthcare, innovation, and education in India. 

The awards recognized pioneers, innovators, and emerging leaders across clinical practice, research, education, and community engagement — honouring individuals and institutions who exemplify innovation, compassion, and leadership in dentistry.
